Tormach Mill Tool Table
Tool numbers, lengths, and diameters for the Tormach metal CNC mill, copied from a PathPilot tool-table export.
PathPilot uses this list when a program calls a tool (T1 M6, and so on). The Z offset is the tool length in inches, so the Z zero on the part stays put after a tool change. The diameter is the cutter width in inches. Conversational programming and cutter compensation both use it.

This is a copy of that file. It is not a live reading of the machine. If a cutter has been swapped, touched off again, or removed since 9 October 2026, trust the tool in the holder and the table on the controller, then update this page.
What the numbers mean
- Tool number is the number PathPilot and G-code use for that cutter.
- Description is the name stored in PathPilot. Shorthand is listed under the table.
- Z offset is the tool length in inches. A larger number is a longer tool. 0 means the length was never set. Running that tool against a part Z zero will not cut where the program expects.
- Diameter is the cutter diameter in inches. 0 means the diameter was never set.
Values below are inches, as stored in the export, rounded to four decimal places.
Tools
| Tool | PathPilot description | Z offset (in) | Diameter (in) | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | flat 2FL R0 loc1.5 HSS dia:0.500 loc:1.500 | 3.3370 | 0.5000 | 1/2“ 2-flute flat HSS, 1.5” length of cut |
| 2 | endmill 2fl loc:1.000 hss | 3.3360 | 0.4970 | Stored diameter is 0.497“, not 0.500” |
| 3 | flat 4FL R0 loc:1.920 HSS | 4.0070 | 0.4640 | Description does not name a size. Stored diameter is 0.464“ |
| 4 | flat 2fl r0 loc:1.100 hss | 0.9370 | 0.2580 | Z offset is much shorter than the other end mills. Confirm the touch-off before use |
| 5 | 6 fl hss chamfer | 2.7355 | 0.4000 | Chamfer mill |
| 6 | 2 fl hss flat | 2.7255 | 0.2600 | Description does not name a size. Stored diameter is 0.260” |
| 7 | flat mill 2fl carb | 3.6860 | 0.4750 | Carbide. Description does not name a size |
| 8 | FacingTool | 0 | 3.7500 | Length is not set |
| 11 | 2f endmill | 1.0000 | 0.0020 | Diameter of 0.002“ and a Z offset of exactly 1. Treat this as leftover test data until someone measures a real cutter |
| 19 | 1/8” 2fl flat mill hss | 0.3150 | 0.1230 | Stored diameter is 0.123031“ (3.125 mm), short of a true 1/8” (0.125“) |
| 20 | Edge Finder | 3.6880 | 0.2000 | |
| 21 | 3/8 flat End Mill | 0 | 0.1875 | Name says 3/8” (0.375“). Stored diameter is 3/16” (0.1875“). Length is not set |
| 22 | 3/16 Ball End Mill | 0 | 0.1875 | Diameter matches the 3/16” name. Length is not set |
| 98 | Haimer | 0 | 0 | Length and diameter are not set |
| 99 | Tormach Pasive Probe | 0 | 0 | Spelled that way in PathPilot. Length and diameter are not set |
Slots 9, 10, 12–18, and 100–107 are empty in the export (no description, length 0, diameter 0).
Description shorthand
- fl / FL — number of flutes
- R0 / r0 — square end (corner radius 0)
- loc — length of cut
- HSS — high speed steel
- carb — carbide
- dia — diameter
Holder notes on tools 12 and 13
These two notes were typed into an extra spreadsheet column. PathPilot does not have a tool-holder column, and both descriptions are still blank. Both notes end in a question mark, so confirm them at the machine:
- Tool 12 — “TTS-ER20??” (Tormach Tooling System holder, ER20 collet chuck)
- Tool 13 — “TTS-JT6 with 5/8” Drill Chuck?“ (TTS holder with a Jacobs taper drill chuck)
Putting this file back into PathPilot
The first row of the export has to stay the first row, and its first three cells have to stay as exported:
Mill Tool Table- the original timestamp and
v1 This must be the first row - do not edit
The “Tool Holder” label and the notes on tools 12 and 13 sit outside those columns. They are spreadsheet notes. They are not controller data.
